Cleft palate management is complex. There is no current agerrment on the appropriate treatment steategy. Extensive disagreement on the pathophysiology. timing of intervention and technique of surgical repair added to the confusion. However. Several main points should be emphasized Normal speech should be the most important consideration in the therapeutic plan. growth disturbances should be minimized. but not at the expense of speech impairment. Middle ear function also should be taken in consideration.
