Abstract

Distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAEs) are one type of OAEs that corresponds closely to the physiological state of the OHCs of the cochlea. The amplitude of DPOAEs is influenced by the aging process. where it decreases with increasing age. The amplitude of DPOAEs can be influenced by contralateral acoustic stimulation of the MOCB. Meaning that.DPOAEs. can provide an appropriate index of changes in cochlear function when MOCB fibers are activated. CAS of MOCB reduce the endocochlear potential which is critical to OHC function and the generation of DPOAEs. This study was designed to evaluate the maturation of MOCB stimulation on DPOAE phenomenon in normal hearing adults and children.
