Abstract This study was performed on 150 cases of endometrial patterns selected fiom the referred cases to Pathology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Tanta University, in the period fiom January, the first 199 1, till the last of December 2000. The selected cases were obtained either by D&C, vaginal hysterectomy, subtotal hysterectomy, or total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingeo-ophrectomy. These cases were provisionally diagnosed as : 15 cases of benign proliferative endometrium, 78 cases of endometrial hyperplasia, and 57 cases of endometrial carcinoma. All the cases were clinically evaluated with reporting complete clinical history as the complaint, age, weight , history of oral contraceptive pills intake, presence of diabetes mellitus, or hypertension, and ,having past history of breast cancer. The main complaint ofthe studied cases in this work was abnormal vaginal bleeding for all cases of EH, and EC, while cases of BPE were complaining of primary or secondary infertility. The mean age of the patients was significantly increasing from in the cases of BPE (27.4 ys), to in cases of EH (47.5 ys), and then to cases of EC (58.6 ys). |
