Abstract Pewcutaneous mitral commissurotomy has become the procedure of choice for many patients with symptomatic MS.however, the development of significant MR remain as infrequent yet very important complication. The aim of this study was to assess the applicability of different scoring systems and color Doppler echocardiographic variables in predicting development of significant MR following percutaneous metallic or balloon mitral cominissurotomy and to find out whether the technique used have a11 impact on the development of this conlplication. Forty four patients were studied, they were divided into 2 groups: 23 patients were subjected to percutaneous mitral valvuloplasty using the Inoue balloon technique and 21 patients were submitted to percutaneous mitral commissuroton~y with the metallic valvulotome. |
