Abstract The present study involves the geological and radiometric investigations of Wadi Barnaram area, southeast of Aswan, which is limited by longitudes 33° 00’ and 33° IS’ East and latitudes 23° 45’ and 23° 55’ North. For this study, the geological map (Scale 1:50.000) of Aswan Regional Planning Project has been modified. The Precambrian basement rocks are varied in their mode of occurrence and lithology. Petrographically, they classified as synorogenic plutonites, post orogenic plutonites and associated rocks, post orogenic volcanic and foreland volcanics. The synorogenic plutonites are represented by granodiorites, which represent the oldest rock unit in the studied area, cover small area (about 3 Km2) and show sharp contact with younger surrounding rock units. They are mainly composed of plagioclase, quartz and alkali feldspars with sub equal amounts of biotite and muscovite. |
