Abstract in conclusion, both the stratigraphical and structtural factors are predominant as the main trapping mechanisms of the study area. The development of organic sediments SUCII as shdles ,maarls and argillaceous limestones represent the main source rocks,w:lile the massive evaporites of the Kareem Formation and the sediments of Ras ~alaab Group are considered as the principal cap rocks. The meentioned rocks together wi til the different phases of deep tectonics are considered as the main factors contributing to the development of oil traps in the Ras Gilarib- Ras SllUkheir area. Moreover, the accumulation and trapping of oil and gas in the study area may be probable also under the combination of favourra’;le conditions in the Miocene sediments (mainly porous and easily permeaDle sands and limestones) above the water tahle level. |
