Abstract Ninty-six male albino-rats were used in this study. They were divided into 8 age groups; one day, one week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, one month, 2 months, 3 monthes and one year. Paraffin sections were prepared and stained with Hx&E, PAS, mallory and alkaline phophatase activity was studied. The epididymal duct of rat aged one day and one week was lined by undifferentiated epithelium (low columnar cells) which was a single layer of non ciliated basophilic cells with a unifor-height. By 3 weeks, the epithelium started differentiation into tall columnar cells together with the appearance of intraepithelial lymphocytes. At this age, some duct sections exhibited cilia (stereocilia ). |
