Abstract A close relationship between gut and arthritis has been previously reported. In IBD various autoantibodies have been described and are considered as seromarkers for CD and UC. The most frequently studied are ASCA and pANCA. Since a pathophysiologic link is present between IBD and SpA, we were interested to investigate the role of ASCA and pANCA in SpA.” Perinuclear ANCA is a wellarecognized marker for UC, with a prevalence of 30-65% _and a prevalence of 0-20% in CD.This study included 110 subjects grouped as follows:40 patients having sero•negative spondyloarthropathy (group I); they were subdivided into 31 patients having ankylosing spondylitis (subgroup Ia) and 9 patients having psoriatic arthritis (subgroup Ib). group Il, included 40 IBD patients diagnosed by combined clinlcal, endoscopic, and histopathologic findings They were subdividedinto 20_ patients having Crohn’s disease (subgroup la) and 20 patients having ulcerative colitis (subgroup Ilb).group lllincluded 20 patients with rheuniatoid arthritis, while the last group (IV)included 10 healthy volunteers. |
