Abstract
Animals depend mainly on berseem as the hi;!: ration from November to May. This system caws a great loss in ihc proteic utilization of Serseem as the animals consume niorc fodder tc cover their energy requirement. The surplus supplies of berseem pl-od~mdin \\.ii!tcr season could be converted into bersee~nh ay or pellets tr: help in feeding animals during sulnmer season in which there is a shortage in fodder crop production. Sugarbeet became an in~portant crop in Egypt, not only fix sugar production, but also for producing fodder. Beet tops are kd mostly to cattle and sheep either ensiled, fresh or pellets form as cured in small piics in the field. Beet tops are palatable and nutritious for aninlais. Ruminmiis are able to utilize large quantities without injury. Cottonseed is the second important product alter lint coltoi, production. Ahout 7.5% of the produced seeds is used for oil cxtr:~cuon and animal fwd production. Cottonseed meal is a hi31 protein iced li)r livestock. The recent development of the animal produc~ion requires spcci:d progress in !he techniques and equipment to meet the ~iormalc onsumptio;l Feeding is one of’tlie most serious problems facing the amtnal prodwtio and it can be solved by selecting the proper fodtler diet in the acccptahlc phase. Livestock should be fed on concentrate mixtures :n ac!ciii!on to reasonabk amounts of berseem in winter. The prototype machine in the present work was used to produce pellets. It was manufactured at Rice Mechanization Center Wc>i-li~ho\> (Meet El- Deeba, Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate, Egypt).
