Abstract
SUMMARY
50 patients with chronic aortic incompetence were studied.
The history of each patient was analysed laying stress on symptoms of left ventricular dysfunction and angina.
The pulse pressure and clinical evidences of left ventricular dysfunction were recorded. The electrocardiogram of each patient was analysed for the presence or absence of left ventricular hypertr-ophy and stain. The chest x-ray of each patient was examined for signs of cardiac enlargement and left ventricular failure.
The left ventricular end diastolic pressure of each patient was recorded. The grade of aortic in-competence was estimated in each patient from aortic root angio in left lateral view.
Using Dodge equation (Dodge 1966). The ejection fraction was calculated from the left ventriculogram in 30° right anterior oblique view.

The patients were divided into two groups according to their ejection fraction.
Group ”A”: With ejection fraction < 50 % and
Group ”B”: With•ejection fraction >i 50 %.
Comparison between data obtained in each group was made. The results were studied, analysed and compared with those reported in the literature.
Conclusions and Recommendation were given.
