Abstract
The aim of the present investigation was to study the type of gene action in the inheritancne of resistance to pink stem-borer (Sesamia cretica Led.) and European corn borer (Ostrinia nubilalis Hubner). It was also aimed to estimate the general and sgecxfic combining ability and heterosis for yielding ability. The study was conducted at Sakha Agriculture Research Station during 1994 and 1995 seasons. Ths study included eight inbred lines, which were crossed in all possible combination in a partial diallel set. The eight irnbreds and their crosses without reciprocals were evaluated in three experimetns as follows: 1. Evaluation of’ resistance to S. crelica under natural infestation conditions during April in both 1 994 and 1995, also under artificial infestation in 1995 season. 2. Evaluation of resistance to 0. nubilalis under nature Infestation conditions during July in both 1994 and 1995 seasons, also, under artificial infestation in 1995 season. 3. Evaluation of yield trial under normal managements in the two years.
