Abstract
Methods of catching fish have been known since mankind,s earliest days, the old Egyptian walls painting of their temples shows a lot of fishing tools and methods the improvement of the existing techniques and the development of new ones have continued right up to the present day. Numerous method of fishing gears is used nowdays in marine waters of them the traps. Traps are mostly used as bottom fishing gear many materials such as wood iron plastic and others are used to make a trap. The shapes of trap varied depend mainly on the kind of the target species. Overall size of the trap is limited by the size of boat beside other factors. The present study is carried out to evaluate the efficiency of these traps in marine fisheries quantitatively. This efficiency are also tested under some factors and conditions. Three trapping experiment were conducted in Rysont port between 23Oct.1995 and 5May 1996. Two type of baits two different soak times two different depths.
