Abstract 1- The properties of portland blast - furnace slag cement (35% slag) falls within the limits of Egyptian Standard Specifications (1969); the properties of Karnak cement (25% sand) conform with rumaina, Chile and China Standard Specifications (1958). 2- Two proposed mix proportions are recommended for ordinary structural works, taking into account the work ability (slump 5-7 cm), strength (180 kg/ cm2) and economy. These mixes are: Cement : Sand : Gravel : Water 350kg : 0.35 m3 : 0.84 m3 : 175 liters for slag cement concrete, and Cement : Sand : Gravel : Water 350 kg : 0.30m3 : 0.90 m3 : 175 liters for karank cement concrete. 3- For the above two proposed mixes, the properties of plain concrete are evaluated and compared with those of the regular ordinary portland cement concrete, it was found that: The empirical formulae of skarmtayev (1968). |
