Abstract Hypertension is the most common medical disorder associated with pregnancy. Pre-eclampsia con tinnes two thirds of cases of hypertension with pregnancy. Hypertensive disorders complicating pregnancy are common and along with haemorrhage and infection they form deadly triadthat is responsible for a large number of maternal deaths. Preliminary studies have suggested a possible therapeutic role of nitric ox.ide donors in women with established pre eclampsia. In the present study we compared the effects of tansdermal glyceryl triniirate (GT ) with that of sublingual isosorbide dinitrate(lD) in the acute control of hyperten ion in evere preeclapmsia, This study was conducted on 50 pregnant women diagnosed as severe pre-eclampsia and admitted to Obstetrics Department of Om EL-Masrien Hospital. 25 patients were given jransdermal GT 10mg patches for 16 h./day , this was the first group. The patients of the second group has received ublingual ID 5mg. AU cases were ubiected to full history laking, complete general and obstetric examination. The patients were evaluated (SBP, DB?, pulse and AIR were measured) every 15 minutes through the first hour and every 4 hour during the first 24 hours of treatment. |
