Abstract
The present study was conducted at the Poultry Research fann beloilging to Department of Poultry Production, Kaf? El -Sheildi, Faculty of Agriculture, Tanta University. This work was mainly designed to investigate the phenotypic and genetic parameters in the two local strains of cliiclens, Silver and Golden Montazah. Experiments coimnenced on Sept~nper, 1 992 and was tenniilated on November, 1994. The base population obtained 6-0111 70 females and 12 males of Silver Montazah and 67 females and 1 1 lnales of Chlden Montazah strains of chickens. These birds were randomly taken f?om the randolnbred populations in the Poultry Research Farm of the Faculty of Agicultre - Kafi El-Sheikh, Tanta University. The bisds of base population (GO) were propagated tl~~-ourgahn doin inating using artificial insemination. The imnber of brids used for producing the next ( pedigreed) generation were 22 sires and 132 dams for Silver Montazah and 18 sires and 106 dams of Golden Montazah Strains. characteristics studies tl~rough the experiment were gowth traits (body weight at 0,4,8,12,16,20, at sexual maturity, 30 and 40 weeks of age, body gaiil and growth rate during the periods ti-om 0 to 20 weeks of age ), feed coilsunlption and feed conversioil during growing period, reproductive traits (age at sex~lal maturity,
