Urban environment in Islamic city is the outcome of interaction between constants like Islamic rule and variables like economic, technical and environmental potentials. So it is fatal mistake to utilize the final result of building like mosques and houses and others to enrich modern architecture science and its design methods as attempt to rooting the modern architecture. That is because the variables have been changed.
This research is attempt to concentrate on human Islamic values and principles of which the Islamic communities had followed to judge the process of opening a door, window or other architecture features instead of concentrate on building environment or the final product.
This research is an attempt to study the effect of Islamic religion values on contemporary architecture particularly housing architecture.
The research consists of four chapters and each chapter consists of three divisions.
The first chapter deals generally with identifications of human values and particulaely with identifucations of religion human values then the relationship between the values and the human behavior and the mutual relationship between the values and housing architecture. Then the analytical study of values that affect the housing architecture particularly the values of neighboring, privacy and medium, which had great effect to control the architecture of Islamic house.
The second chapter deals with the reflection of Islamic religion values on urban environment roads, squares and courtyard. It deals also with the reflection of Islamic religion values on both internal and external housing architecture facades, Entrances, circulation methods, inner spaces and openings. Finally, it deals with the authorities that mange and control urban environment in Islamic city such as the judge and ”MOHTASIB”. The researcher figure out from that chapter that how the Islamic role with its variety resources form urban and architecture environment in Islamic city.
The third chapter deals with the decline of the effect of Islamic religion values on housing architecture in nineteen century, the first half of twenty century and the second half of the same century the contemporary period. The researcher figure out from that chapter that how religion values don’t affect any more contemporary house with all its features.
The fourth chapter deals with rational trend to root contemporary housing architecture as well as the roll of the architect in the process of rooting in addition to different effects in rooting process. It also explains how to mix the rooting with contemporary in the arcjitecture product. Some attempts of rooting the contemporary architecture are studied.
The last part of the study is field study to measure to what extend the Egyptian community inherent to the values and principles that had affected housing architecture in Islamic ears. This study shows up that there is great decline of the effectiveness of religion values on contemporary housing architecture in Egypt and the community need for laws and man made roles to control the process of construction. Finally, the results and the recommendations cited the utmost importance to activate the roll of Islamic religion values in contemporary housing architecture as well as to build up the Moslem individual before his house.
