Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the surface roughness of dentin and their effects on retention of full metal crown luted with different type of dental cements.
In the present study the following materials were used.
1) Three different types of cements: Zinc phosphate cement. (b) Resin modified glassionomer luting cement. (c) Adhesive resin based cement.
2) A Nickel chrome contain alloy.
Methods:
A total of 75 freshly extracted human sound molar teeth of similar size collected from patient of age group (30-40) years. Teeth were cleaned debrided checked under magnifying lens for any defect, then stored in distilled water at temperature till being used.
A dental surveyor was used to mount the tooth specimen in polymeric tube. Samples were randomly grouped into 5 equal groups of 15 specimens each .The following surface treatments were carried out;
Group I (control); Fine diamond stone grit size 50 µm.
Group II; Fine diamond stone grit size 50µm + phosphoric Acid Jell 37%.
