Abstract -80- SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION This study was carried in the Medical Biochemistry Department and the family Planning Clinic of Benha Faculty of Medicine, Zagazig University,to investigate the effects of triphasic oral contraceptives ”Triovlar”on the lipoprotein profile among women using these pills for one year. This study included forty women divided into two main groups, twenty control group and twenty study group, the two groups are of similar age and weight (age from 25-35 years) . The study group received Trivotar (6 tablets each contains 30 ug EE plus 50 levonorgestrel, 5 tablets each contains 40 ug EE plus 75 levonorgestral and 10 tablets contains 30 ug EE plus 125 ug levonorgestrel. Before admission to this study every women was subjected to complete physical and clinical examination. Venous blood samples were taken under complete aseptic conditions. The serum cholesterol, triglycerides, HDLcholesterol and LDL-cholesterol were determined. The results were statistically analysed and the following results were obtained : 1- Non significant differences in cholesterol P>O.05, triglycerides P>0.05, HDL-C P>O.05 and LDL-C P>0.05 with the use of trivolar as compared to the control group. -81- , 2- There is no significant change in total cholesteroll HDL-C, HDL-C/LDL-C and LDL-C/HDL-C ratios with the use of the Trivolar as compared to the control group. In conclusion, the use of low does oral contraceptive pills (Triovlar) did not cause any significant changes in lipoprotein profiles. |
