المستخلص
This work aims to find an evaluation method for architects to help them to choose right forms for their architectural works. These forms should meet the users needs and the wishes of the owners and their financial resources. It also should express the architect act in the design process. The evaluation method is intended to be used in the evaluation of architectural works (before or after execution) in order to minimize the effect of the evaluator and the critic personality for the sake of fair judgment.
The work of this thesis consists of three chapters:
* The first chapter has been splited into two sections, the first one attempts to determine the concept of form in general, and particularly in architecture. It also studies the elements of forms and their spiritual effects and getting use of form in architecture. The second section explains the process of visual perception and factors affects it.
* The second chapter studies factors affects the form in architecture, it has two sections, the first one discusses the general factors which are related to the place and time of any architectural work. They are the factors which create the general style to a particular architecture in a specific place and time. The second section explains the individual (private) factors which are the function of the building and the personality of its architect.
* The third chapter reviews the evaluation method, it has three sections, the first is a theoretical concept for the performance of form and methods of evaluation. The second section discuss the proposed method, and the third section is an application of the proposed method to evaluate the performance of form in some architectural works in Assiut city.
Conclusion and recommendations:
It summarizes the main results of this study and gives some recommendations to the architects to establish the suggested evaluation method in their works.
