Abstract - 7I - ”Summary” The Present study is an attemp to reveal the incidence of infection by intestinal protozoa in the primary school childrQna at kalubia. - The relationship between the prevalence of such infection in the different classes, the effect of the. infection on the general health of the child and to show their relation to aneamia affecti~9 children at that age. One handred of the primary school shildren from different localities~in kalubia were therefore examined clinically. This’i examination includes : Chest, heart, abdomen , with the measurement of the weight and the hight to stUdy the effect of the infection on the growth af the children • The laboratQPY investigations include : Stool ~ndlysis foT 3 successive times with one week interval, the haemoglobin 19m/L determined to examine the rela”tionship ’between these infections and anaemia in children • • - 72 - It was found tbat tbe incidence of infection is almost tbe same in female & and male cbildren., But tbe incidence was in creased in tbe lower social classes. --- ------- Howevere, some cases were stool Positive in spite of absence of Conplaints. Someotber cases suffered from iron deficiency anaamia especially tbose infected witb giardiases. from tbis study, it was noticed that single stool analysis for intestinal protzoamay give false negative results. ” It was foundtbat tbe incidence of infection witb intestinal protozoal diseases sucb as giardiasis and amaebiasis may reacb up to 47% with iron deficiency anaemia. • |
