Abstract Alopecia areata is an acquired dermatological problem that is characterized by a sudden and complete loss of hair in a circumscribed area in which the skin is completely normal. Alopecia areata is more common in children and young adults with no gender predilection. It can be classified either according to extent of hair loss into localized AA, alopecia totalis and alopecia universalis or according to the pattern of hair loss where many patterns are included like reticular pattern, diffuse pattern and ophiasis. |
