Abstract The melt quenching technique is used for the preparation of one series of (xMgO-(1-x)P2O5). And three series of (xMnO2-(1-x)P2O5)., (0.5MnO2-(0.5P2O5).xEr2O3. Archimedes method is used for determining the density of samples and hence the molar volume. The Pulse echo technique used for measuring longitudinal and shear wave velocities. From which we calculated the Young’s, bulk, Shear, longitudinal elastic moduli. The visible and ultraviolet absorption of electromagnetic spectra were measured before and after irradiation with gamma – ray (up to 80 KGy), Eopt and ?E were obtained from Davis, Mott equation and Urbach relation respectively for glass composition xMgO – (1-x) P2O5 (where x = 20, 35 and 55 mole %), The optional absorption spectra distribution for unirradiation and ?- irradiation xMnO2-(1-x) P2O5 glass samples of different composition (x=30, 40 and 50 mole % MnO2), in the visible and UV range were obtained and study the relation between the peak heights and ? – doses were determined. Variations of the optical absorption spectra with wavelength in region 200-2500 nm (i.e. UV and VIS ranges) for manganese – phosphate glasses Mn(PO3)4 doped with xwt% Er2O3 rare oxide (where x=0.2, 0.8 and 4.0 wt% Er2O3 content) and the absorption spectra in the same region (200-2500 nm) for manganese – phosphate glasses Mn(PO3)4 doped with xwt % Nd2O3RE oxide (where x=0.2, 0.8 and 4.0 wt % Nd2O3RE oxide content) were investigated. The obtained results are interpreted in terms in terms of changes in the coordination number, the interatomic force constant and the molecular weight. |
