Abstract Correct registration of Centric relation is a very important step for success of complete denture because of the differences in thickness, compressibility of the mucous membrane, and also the differences in the amount of closing pressure excerted during recording of this relation, displacement of the basal mucosa and the recording bases on their mucosal seats vi1l occur. The centric jaw relation also will not be correctly recorded and errors in occlusion will occur. In this study a comparison between two different techniques (minimal and heavy closing pressure techniques) for recording centric occluding relation in complete denture were carried out. Twelve completely edentulous patients were selected from Prosthetic department, Faculty of Dentistry, Alexandria University. The patients were divided into two equal groups according to thickness of mucous membrane (more than 2 mm and less than 3 mm). Two complete dentures were constructed for each patient, and the centric jaw relations were recorded according to minimal and heavy closing piessure techniques. The intercast relation for each technique used was recorded by using stylus and recording tables assemblies in the x,y and z planes. |
