Information technology plays an increasing and central role in the planning, prediction, supervision, and control of environmental processes at many different scales and within various time spans. The fast developments in information technologies made the establishment of interdisciplinary research links between environmental and computer scientists possible and very fruitful. The main objective of this work is to integrate information technology research fields such as AI, GIS, DSS, Modeling and Visualization and build a GIS-based intelligent DSS, Knowledge Base Spatial Decision Support System (KBSDSS), and to actually use it to solve a development problem. The developed system has additional objectives:
• To use the knowledge base to assess groundwater quality and suitability for irrigation according to the international water qualitycriteria.
• To use the knowledge base to identify the suitable crops for a specific water resource or suitable water resources for a specific crop.
• To use spatial modeling and geo-statistical methods to assess spatial distribution and prediction of water quality criteria in the proposed grids over the study area.
• To use the spatial models to assessment of the regions around the Oasis to identify the most suitable location for the excess drainage water riddance.
• To enhance the visual representation of the retrieved information resources according to their geographic reference.
• The developed system used to support and guide the planners and decision makers to make the best decision for our environmental
