Abstract This work included 173 patients with carotid artery disease 102 males and 71 females . All cases were submitted to : 1- Through history taking and clinical assessment . 2- Laboratory investigations (blood sugar level – total cholesterol level- and other routine tests ). 3- CT skull ( stroke patients ) 4- ECG & echocardiography 5- Carotid ultrasonography . 6- Carotid angiography (in selected cases with surgically correctable stenosis ). The age of the patients ranged from 46-72 years (M ±SD ,55.2±8.5) Risk factors were distributed as follow {hypertension (56.6%) –diabetes (28%)-smoking (39%) –hyperlipidemia (7%)} Our patients were categorized into three groups ( Stroke TIAS and asymptomatic carotid artery disease patients ). |
