Abstract

Over the past few decades the results in quality of body contour surgery have significantly improved, mostly after liposuction has been introduced into plastic surgery. In a parallel way, the demand for quality of results has also increased from the patient’s standpoint. Historical body contouring surgeries can be divided into pre – and postlipoplasty periods. Lipoplasty basic principles have arrived and are here to stay. It has offered techniques to reduce localized fatty deposits and remodeling of the body contour after traditional surgery in combination or with different surgical stages.

The original combined abdominoplasty procedure was associated with increased risk of developing complications. This was due to the fact that liposuction was done extensively without respect to the vascular anatomy of the abdomen. Aesthetic results were not also very pleasing, due to failure in recognition of the superficial fascial system (SFS) and its importance in surgical repair. This was noticed as patients came back with residual contour deformities in the antero – lateral thigh region, central abdomen, and mons pubis. The incision
