Abstract

Gastric ulcers were induced in male albino rats by ethanol as described by robert et al., 1979 and kontinek et al., 1986, or by indomethacin as described by calatayud et al., 2001
The severity of ulcers was assessed on a score scale of 1-5 according to the system deviced by wilhelmi and menass-gdynia, 1972.
Ulcer index was calculated by multiplying the mean ulcer score of a group of animals similarly treated by the percentage of ulcerated animals in the same group of animals Radwan and west, 1971
Gastric juice of albino rats was collected according to Shay et al., 1945
Titritable acidity was calculated as milli-equivalent per liter according to method described by grossman 1963
