Abstract In order to overcome the limitation of organic resins and inorganic adsorbents; many investigators have introduced polymeric composite resins consisting of inorganic sorbents and organic binding matrices. Composite materials are used today in many fields of science, technology, and manufacture. These composite resins were prepared, characterized and used for separation of radioactive isotopes and some heavy metal ions from waste solutions. The work carried out in the present thesis is presented in three main chapters. Chapter one This chapter includes an introduction about radiation polymerization, some polymerization process especially template polymerization. This chapter also includes review on the ion exchange process, inorganic exchangers, organic exchangers, and composite exchangers. Also there is review about polymer clay composite, covering their methods of preparation, interaction between polymer and clay, and uses for metal ions separations. This chapter includes a review about hexacyanoferrate complexes especially their preparation, mechanism of ion sorption, chemical stability, and uses with polymer for preparation of composite. Finally this chapter contains a review about sorption process and mechanism of interaction between polymer and metal ions. |
