المستخلص Although, the post operative pain is self limited, it is frequently severe and may be the most unpleasant aspect of the hospital stay. It is a potent trigger for the stress response, activities the autonomic system, and is thought to be an indirect cause of adverse effects on various organ system. Neuroaxial block is an excellent technique for managing postoperative pain following thoracic, abdominal, pelvic and lower extremities procedures. Using a high dose of a single drug for postoperative analgesia leads to various adverse effects. So, it is preferred to use smaller doses of multiple drugs for better analgesia and less side effects. The aim of this work is to compare the analgesic, sensory and motor effects of oral and intrathecal clonidine in spinal anesthesia with bupivacaine. The study included the efficacy as well as the safety for the patients. The present study conducted on 60 patients aged 18-45 years old scheduled for elective inguinal herniorraphy under subarachnoid anaesthesia distributed into three groups each comprising 20 patients. Group B: received intrathecal bupvacaine 0.5%, 15 mg, Group CIT: received intrathecal bupvacaine 0.5%, 10 mg plus clonidine 100 ?g, 60 minutes before intrathecal bupivacaine 0.5%, 15 mg. |
