Abstract

The present study is an extension 10 previous works comprising ies of mammals, exhibiting different habits of living (rats, guinea s, dogs and cats).
The aim of this work has been to sum up the morphological ferences and similarities between the orbital glands of these investi-
:ed animals and to give a closer description to the presence of lysaccharides, alkaline phosphatase enzyme as well as mast cells in i inters itial tissue of the Harderian glands.
The methods of investigation used in this work were the histolo-cal (Haematoxylin and Eosin method) and histochemical methods leriodic acid schiff method) for demonstration of mucopolysaccharides Calcium phosphate technique; for demonstration of alkaline phosphatase izyme and toluidine blue method for demonstration of mast cells in ie interstitial tissue of the Harderian glands of these invistigated(imals.
In general, the orbital glands were taken in the same season all the variable factors involved in this work.
