Abstract RA is a connective tissue disease characterised by inflammation within the diarthrodial joints. It is a systemic disease which is reported to affect the larynx, the ear and the nose. The TMJ may be involved ad may cause otological manifestations. The aim of this work is to study the otorhinolaryngological manifestations of RA, to detect the type and the degree of hearing impairment of the affected patients, to clarify the incidence and the degree of laryngeal involvement in RA and detection of the incidence of envolvement of TMJ. The study was conducted on 30 patients of RA that were referred from rheumatology and rehabilitation department, El-Mataria Teaching Hospital. Their ages ranged from 30 to 60 years. The female to male ratio was 9: 1, with a disease duration between 1-20 years. Also, 10 persons matched for age and sex of RA patients were served as control.
