Abstract

Acute otitis media is one of the most common infections in children. Complications occur rather frequently unless adequate antibiotics therapy for otitis media is used.
The four major pathogens isolated from middle ear discharge in our study was Streptococcus pneumoniae in(39 . 351) , Haemophi lua influemae in (20%), Staphy loco ecus aureus in (20%), and Branhamel la catarrhal is in (11.61%).The’ question of the bacteriological correlation between acute otitis media and nasopharynx is still unsatisfactory answered.
The present study aims of identifying the relation between organisms isolated from nasopharynx and those from cases of acute otitis media with or without perforation.
One hundred and fifty patients with a diagnosis of acute otitis media were included in the study. Middle ear fluid cultures yielded pathogens in 1^3 patients and 7
patients showed no growth while, nasopharyngea1 swab
