Abstract Sac invagination technique is a surgical treatment of inguinal which is a simple, easy technique and without complications. The aim of this work was to study the method of sac invagination in the treatment of inguinal hernia compared by Bassini repair. We conducted a prospective, randomized study of sixty consecutive patients admitted to the department of General Surgery in Menoufiya University Hospitals. All patients complaining of inguinal hernia, 13 patients had direct hernia and 47 patients had indirect hernia. Fourty patients were treated by sac invagination technique (Group A) , twenty patients were treated by Bassini repair (Group B). Our study revealed the following: “ The recurrent rate was insignificantly higher in group (B) than in group (A). V Most of patients in group (A) had smooth immediate post-operative period with few complications. V Most of recurrent cases discovered at 24 months after surgery. V Most of recurrent cases was at age group> 50 years. V Direct hernias shows higher rate of recurrence as compared to indirect hernias. |
