Abstract

from the results obtained in this series and of the references quoted above, it can be stated that in 1990, choledochoduodenostomy is an established operation to treat successfully a variety of obstructive lesion of the distal biliary system. Furthermore, under the appropriate circumstance, it is a relative and perhaps even a better operation for closing the C.B.D, after choledochotomy. The morbidity and mortality rates when choledochoduodenostomy is done for the proper indications, where the diameter of the C.B.D used measured 16 mm, and the technical precautions (mobilization of the duodenum, vertical incision in the C.B.D., and meticulous precise suture technique)have been followed, have been better or comparable to other alternative operative methods.
