Abstract This is a retrospective study carried out at Shebin El-Kom teaching hospital and University Hospital on breast cancer patients from 1991 - 1995. • The epidemiological results showed that the mean incidence of breast cancer in Shebin El-Kom female population was 36.7100.000 female per year, the ratio of breast cancer to other tumours 25.1 % and male breast cancer was 1.8% of female breast cancer. • The peak age was between 40 - 49 years and the mean age 42 years. The breast self examination was very low (4.8%). • Site distribution : there was predominance on the left side (54.8%) and the most affected part was upper lateral quadrant (67.4%). • Size distribution was mainly between 2 - 5 cm and mean size was 4.9 cm. • 66.3% of our patients had their tumours in T3N1MO and the main histopathological type was infiltrating duct carcinoma (77.7%). |
