Abstract

Most surgeons agree that after slipping of the upper femoral epiphysis. surgical realignment of a moderate or severe chronic displacement is ^ the treatment of choice.
However, the method remains controversial with disagreement as to the efficiency and safety of osteotomies at different levels.
Although cervical osteotomy is considered khe best way of restoring near normal anatomy. It has been regarded as carrying too high a risk of avascular necrosis (Wilkinson et al.
1990).
Preoperative Evaluation Radiography
• The degree of displacement is classified (Southwick classification, 1967) according to what is seen on frog leg lateral radiograph of the femoral head and neck.
• First degree (mild slip) : the head is displaced as much as 30 degrees.
• Second degree (moderate) : 30-60 degrees
