Abstract This study was carried on 100 children age ranging om 3 years to 12 years. They were 56 males and 44 nales Among the 44 females, 24 were symptomatic with inary tract infection and 20 were asymptomatic while ong 56 males included in the study, 29 were symptoma- c while 27 were asymptomatic. The cases were chosen randomly from the paediatric d Urology Clinic of Al-Hussein University Hospital. A urine sample from each individual was collected lidstream urine) under complete aseptic conditions in ro sterile tubes. The first sample was subjected to: 1) nitrite test. 2) pour-plate method for bacterial count. \e second sample was subjected to culture. Our results svealed that out of 100 urine samples, 38 (38%) gave icterial counts more than 105 bacteria/ml and also gave asitxve culture, while 62 cases (62%) gave bacterial ounts less than 105 bacteria/ml by pour-plate method.
