Abstract In order to study the discrepancy of immunoglobulins in some disease states, we should compare the results with normal controls matched for age, in the same location and from the same socioeconomic standard. Studying immunoglobulin variations in health and disease 150 sera from patients and normal controls were collected. Cases were thoroughly selected and asked about history of infections, allergies and medications. Blood samples were taken for immunoglobulin levels determinations. Then typhoid vaccine was given to some cases. Assessment of immunoglobulin levels was performed by single radial immunodiffusion method because it is practically a very simple procedure. it is not expensive. It is also sensitive and specific. Another blood sample was collected from every vaccinated case 10 days after vaccination for Widal test. To have standards for valid comparisons The study inc1uded 16 normal children up to the age of 13 years. We have got 138.4 lU/mi (mean IgG) and mean IgA was 60.9.1 lu/mI while mean 1gM was 211.7 lu/mI. There was no differences in IgG, 1gM sera levels between children before 5 years and those above 5 years however marked difference was recorded in IgA levels and this is normally. |
