Abstract
OF THE Total hip replacement is an operation that has a dramatic effect to improve the quality of life of patients with incapacitating hip disorders. With the increasing numbers of T.H.R. , the numbers of failures also increase. Aseptic failure is now considered the most important late complications of T.H.R and is usually associated with loss of bone stock due to abrasive action of cement and wear particles of polyethylene and metals. Revision T.H.R. with osseous allograft is a unique solution for this problem in that , it restores the normal anatomy and bone stock ; and at the same time revise the loose implant. The aim of this work was to evaluate the results of this technique and elucidate and recommend the factors of success.
MATERIAL AND METHODS:
This work included 80 cases of revision T.H.R. with osseous allografts. Femoral allograft alone were used in 19 cases while acetabular allografts alone were used in 26 cases ; and concomitant femoral and acetabular allografts in the same hip were used in 35 cases.
