Derivatives of 2-amino-5-ary1-1-pheny1-1 H-pyrrole-3-carbonitriles 4 was reacted with ( 85% ) formic acid to afford 6- aryl1-7-phenyl-3,7-dihydro-pyrrolo ( 2,3-d ) pyrimidin -4-ones 5 through the amide intermediate ( equation 2 ).
