Abstract
Digital watermarking is the process that embeds data called a watermark into a multimedia object such that it can be detected or extracted later to make an assertion about the object. Digital watermarking is used mainly for the protection of intellectual property rights (IPR). Watermarking is either visible or invisible. Although visible and invisible are visual terms, watermarking is not limited to images, it can also be used to protect other types of multimedia object.
This research is focused on image watermarking. The reason is that there is a large demand for image watermarking products due to the fact that there are so many images available at no cost on the World Wide Web, which need to be protected. In this research, new invisible image watermarking technique is proposed. This technique provides PSNR = 45.59 db without any attacks and an efficient performance in terms of robustness to a variety of attacks.
We also proposed a new visible image watermarking technique, which is based on discrete wavelet transform. This technique uses constant factors for watermark embedding process, which prevent any possible visual discontinuity.
