Abstract Abstract The study presented in this thesis is -directed towards synthesis of arrays with shaped pattern with the Orthogonal method (OM) and Genetic Algorithm (GA). Shaped pattern with prescribed nulls are treated for comparison between the two methods. Genetic algorithm used as a technique for fault diagnostic and automatic localization of faulty elements. The orthogonal method is used to improve the patterns of the linear array in the presence of failed elements. Reconfiguration the amplitude and phase distribution of the remaining elements can partially. compensate for the failed elements and thus reduce the sidelobe level. Numerical results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the method. The effect of the number of failed elements, the distance between the elements and the shape of the desired pattern is demonstrated through this thesis. Hybrid technique GA/OM is used to decrease the side- lobe level of the corrected pattern for array failure case. |
