Abstract This work was done to evaluate the long run effects of addiction habit [heroine] on the level of some metals in bio-medical materials such as Whole Blood, Plasma and Red Blood Cells. 53 subjets were chosen for this work of both sexes. To perform this study 47 were used to detect the effect of sex smoking habit and age, where as the group of study has been divided into two main groups one for males and the otherfor females and each was divided into two subgroups one for smokers and the other for nonsmokers and later on each group was subdivided into 3 subgroups according to the duration of addiction 1,4 and 6 years and finaly 6 subjects were chosen as control. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of addiction habit on the regional distribution of the concentration of some elements. P, S, CI, K, Ca, Mn. Fe, Cu, Zn and Br in blood, plasma and red blood cells of the addict. Analysis was performed by using X-ray fluorescence. As an introduction to this study, we outlined [in some details] the factors that affect the trace elements concentration in the body. Correlation of these concentrations was examined with respect to diet: job, individual habits, normality, age and sex geographical environment racial factor as well as disease and drug treatment before analysis. Also the relation between trace elements and disease, interrelation between these elements as well as the different techniques used in trace elements analysis were also reviewed. |
