Abstract
The present t h e s i s comprises contents are subdivided i n t o introduction, ex~erimental, r e s u l t s and discussion, summary, references and arabic summary The f i r s t chapter deals with a general review on the preparation, advantages, disadvantages of Schiffts - base polymer compounds and physico-chemical s t u d i e s previously carried out on other Schiff ’s-bases and t h e i r complexes. This survey shows the useful application of functionalized polymers as ion exchange r e s i n s for s e l e c t - ive se2aration of metal ions. Also , a general review on the coordination chemistry of Schiff’s-base complexes of t r a n s i t i o n metal ions with special reference to t h e chelating properties of bi- and quadri-dentate Schiff’s-bases ligands derived from salicylidimine derivatives. The second chapter describes t h e apparatus used and working procedures. The preparation of solutions and p u r i f i c a t i o n of solvents are also described i n d e t a i l s.
