Abstract

As we know, during the refining process, a drastic control for temperatures and pressures (refining conditions) of the distillation towers to make every distillation cut meet the international standard specifications. This is a complicated process because the adjustment of one cut comes in account of the cuts that come before and after it, e.g. the adjustment-of gas oil specification comes in account of kerosine (which comes before it) and file1 oil (which comes after it) specifications and amounts. In some cases an improvement for this specifications can occure by using chemical additives instead of changing refining conditions. Accordingly this study aimed to detect the relation between chemical structure of gas oil and both its physical and chemical properties spcially its low temperature properties. and the effect of some pour point depressant additives. So This Thesis contains some chemical studies on gas oil obtained from Alamain local crude (exist in Weste desert )and Shokair local crude(exist in Red Sea coast); the two crudes were a refined at Cairo Oil refining Co.-Tanta laboratory.
