Abstract
The present thesis comprises - Six chapters, the contents are subdivifled into introduction, experimental as well as result and discussion, In chapter 1, a literature survey is given on the spectrophotometric studies of hydrazine derivatives of organic acids and a general survey on the coordination chemistry of hydrazide complexes with transition metal ions based on special reference to chelating properties of such ligands, In chapter 11, the experimental details for the preparation of the solid compounds, solutions and purification of solvents used. Chapter I11 contains the results of the study on the organic ligands together with their discussion, it is subdivided into four parts, In part I, the solvent effect on the uv absorption spectra of some acid hydrazides, their benzylidenes, their salicylidenes and some arylidene derivatives of oxalic, succinic, phthalic and terephthalic hydrazides are considered in order ta present a full account for the nature of absorption bands in correlation with the structure of the solute and their interaction with solvent rnolecul,es, The study is conducted in media of different polarities.
