Abstract The prese~t thesis comprises seven chapters: Chapter (I) contains a literature survey of.the previous voltammetric studies on organic compounds containing the -CH=N-centres and NO2 groups and the suggested mechanisms of the electrode reactions of these compounds at different conditions. Chapter (11) contains the experimental steps performed in the present work; preparation of the Schiff bases compounds, preparation of solutions, working procedures and measurements. Also, this part contains description of the instruments used.in the present studies which cover the electrochemical tools: (a) D.C- pola!?ographic, (b) Cyclic voltammetry and (d) Controlled potential coulometry. Chapter (111) includes the d.c- polarcgraphic behaviour of 5- and 6- arylazomethineindazole and some of its derivatives (series I and 11). The polarograms of compounds of series (I) and series (11) in.Britton Robinson buffer solutions of pH (2-12) containing 30% (by volume) ethanol at (DME) indicate that the reduction behaviour of all depolarizers (except p-NO2 derivative) are similar. |
