Abstract
The absorpbion spectra i n the visible andl uv of sulphm, selenium and tellurium i n simple bimy lithium, sodium 9r potassiu b~rateg lasses was studied, The glasses skudied were all melted in platinum 2% rhodium i n an electrical fupnace under nomnal atmospheric ~0~lditi.01a3t ~1 000•‹C. The duration of melting ranged from one t o LO -hours . The effect of the f ollovfing factors was studied 1. Zffeot of concentration. 2, Effect of glass composition. 3. =feet of melting time. 4. Efeot of heat-treatment. The objective of tbis work was t o develop a b&tao unders’candimg of the f ollovJing 3 cLnts : 1.
