Abstract The material of tho present work consisted of 146 in viduals, One hundred and nine were males, of vvhom 27 were normal-weight , 24 were under-weight , 19 were bilharzialpa ents, 19 were controlled diabetics and 20 wera uncontrollef diabetics. Thirty seven viera females of whom 18 were overweight and 19 were of normal-weight, 411 the subjects included in the present study were hospitalized for a few days before being subjected t o the various laboratory tasts performed to assess the metabolic sffects of massag;. and exercise. All subjects had to be fast ingforatleast 12 hours. 3arly in the norning, the subjects were not allowed to walk but come to the laboratory pushod in a wheel-chair. Xoreover, complete rest in bed for 30 minutes before obtaining any blood spacinlen was ensured. |
