Abstract
Yhis study included 20 patients with HSS, 110 patients with and 10 without HBs-mtigenaemia), with evidence of renal disease (proteinuria with or without decreased ereatinheclearance), in absence of other causes of nephropathy, in order to evaluate the possible pathogenetic factors and histopathological changes occurrin in HSSpatients with H13s antigenaernia. 10 control persons were included in the study.Oedema and proteinuria were more manifest in patients with advanced RSS and heavy proteinuria was present in one patient of the schistosomal group, versus 4 patients in the combined schistosomal and HBV Group, indicating more renal affection in the latter group, rqhich was evidenced by the s t atisticaLly significant increase in proteinuria and urinary I& and IgA i n that group.
